Le 3 mars 2022 se tient la Journée mondiale de la vie sauvage, elle constitue une nouvelle opportunité de sensibiliser le public à la faune, la flore, les dangers liés au trafic mondial des espèces sauvages.

Qu’est-ce que la vie sauvage ?
La vie sauvage englobe une partie de la biodiversité comme les animaux, les plantes et les organismes fongiques (ex : champignons macroscopiques, levures).
La faune désigne traditionnellement les espèces animales non domestiquées, mais elle inclut désormais tous les organismes qui poussent ou vivent à l’état sauvage dans une région sans avoir été introduits par l’homme.

La flore est l’ensemble des espèces végétales présentes dans un espace géographique ou un écosystème déterminé. Le terme “flore” désigne également l’ensemble des microorganismes (hormis les virus) présents en un lieu donné.

On trouve des animaux sauvages dans tous les écosystèmes. D’ailleurs, il existe divers écosystèmes tels que l’aquatique et le terrestre mais ils peuvent être à une échelle plus petite. Par exemple, la forêt tropicale, les forêts de conifères, la haute montagne, le désert, les plaines, les campagnes, les zones polaires, la grande barrière de corail, les récifs, les rivières, les lacs…
Qu’est-ce que la journée mondiale de la vie sauvage ?
La journée mondiale de la vie sauvage est née durant la 68e session de l’Assemblée générale des Nations Unies. Elle a proclamé que le 3 mars sera la “Journée mondiale de la vie sauvage”. Cette date est la signature de la Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d’extinction en 1973.

Le thème de cette édition est : « Récupérer les espèces clés pour la restauration des écosystèmes ». Les célébrations viseront à attirer l’attention sur l’état de conservation de certaines espèces sauvages les plus gravement menacées. De plus, les discussions sont orientées vers l’imagination et la mise en œuvre de solutions pour les conserver.

Quelques chiffres
La disparition progressive des espèces, des habitats et des écosystèmes menace également toute vie sur Terre, y compris la nôtre. Nous dépendons tous des ressources de la faune et de la flore sauvages pour satisfaire tous nos besoins. Cela peut s’agir de nourriture, de carburant, de médicaments, de logement ou de vêtements. Des millions de personnes dépendent également de la nature comme source de leurs moyens de subsistance et de leurs opportunités économiques.
Tandis que près de 30 000 autres sont considérées comme en danger ou vulnérables. Sur la base de ces estimations, il est suggéré que plus d’un million d’espèces sont menacées d’extinction.
Pour cette année 2022, la Journée mondiale de la vie sauvage orientera donc le débat vers la nécessité impérative d’inverser le sort des espèces les plus gravement menacées. Ensuite de soutenir la restauration de leurs habitats et écosystèmes et de promouvoir leur utilisation durable par l’humanité.
